MLCCC Newsletter (2012-05-11)
Dear Parents,
Happy Mother's Day!!! Warm wishes to all of the mothers in our community!!!
Thank you from Yu Laoshi
The coffee was bitter but the munchkins were sweet. That was what Yu Laoshi brought
to school last Sunday - very apt for the circumstance. We appreciate her Thank you
card and the treats. Please take care, Yu Laoshi!
Also thank you to the families who missed the first round of donations and brought
in their contributions this past Sunday!
Now, a few friendly reminders:
-Please do not park right in front of the main entrance, which is a fire lane. Police
may come to ticket anytime.
-Kids waiting for pick up by themselves on the curb can be dangerous. Feel free
to leave them with someone at the Admin and PTO area.

- Seminar 'AP Chinese: Why
you should know about it?' by Xia Li – this Sunday at 1pm in room 163
This is the last seminar of the series and we've saved
the best for last! There is quite a bit to know about this topic and our own principal
Ms. Xia Li will guide us through it. As a PA certified Chinese language teacher,
she has been teaching in the Philadelphia school district for the last 5 years.
She is also College Board Trained AP Chinese teacher. Her students have won many
awards, including one of the top ten in US High School Chinese speech contest organized
by UMass Boston sponsored by Hanban (official Chinese government programs/contests).
Topics of the seminar:
- What is AP Chinese?
- Why does AP Chinese set the standard for Chinese Language learning before college?
- Why can a good AP Chinese exam score help the students in applying college?
- How can AP Chinese save money and time for college?
- Why our kids should take advantage of AP Chinese?
- The difference between SAT II Chinese and AP Chinese
- The format of AP Chinese Exam
- The sample of AP Chinese Exam
For the parents whose children are still young, this can also be a very informational
seminar. AP Chinese set the standard for learning Chinese before entering college.
To understand more about where our students suppose to be in a few years will help
you to reach the goal.

on Raising a child with Hepatitis B in Philadelphia
Since 2001, the HBF patient conference has served as
a beacon of hope for patients and families living with hepatitis B and, after eleven
years, continues to be the only meeting of its kind. It provides a valuable forum
for experts to share their knowledge and for attendees to share their stories in
a relaxed and supportive environment.
In 2012 we are concentrating on the unique health and personal issues and challenges
of raising a child chronically infected with hepatitis B. The HBF will partner with
expert health care professionals to provide the latest medical information in a
friendly supportive environment. Through presentations by experts in the field,
workshops, and interactive Q&A sessions, parents will learn how to help their children
as they grow, develop and mature. Hep B Parents: 10 Reasons You Should Get Yourself
