Academic Contests

The MLCCC Weekend School holds several academic contests each year to promote students' interest in Chinese language learning by challenging them to realize their full Chinese language potential.

MLCCC Chinese Essay Contest

MLCCC hosts a Chinese Essay Contest every spring in order to further encourage the students to develop their Chinese writing skills. The contest is open to students in grades 5 and above, who are asked to write an essay based on a given topic. The essays are graded by a panel consisting primarily of teachers. The grading is based on the Pennsylvania Writing Assessment Rubric, which evaluates five areas: Focus, Content, Organization, Style, and Conventions.

All participants receive a certificate and a small prize. The top 3 essayists are awarded $20, $15 and $10 gift cards during the End of School Year Assembly.
