MLCCC Chinese New Year Celebrations Gala
On February 22, 2015, MLCCC ringed in the Year of the Goat with its annual free
Chinese New Year Community Gala at Great Valley High School in Malvern. The celebration
drew nearly 1,000 attendees from numerous communities in Greater Philadelphia. The
Gala began with a Show in the auditorium comprised of Peking Opera, Chinese folk
dancing, Chinese instrumental music, martial arts demo, and songs and poems by local
artists and MLCCC Weekend School students. The Show was then followed by a Culture
Fair in the cafeteria with a dozen game/craft stations and prizes for children,
and cultural exhibits for adults. The festivity was further enhanced by a variety
of Chinese snacks, foods, ice cream, and merchandise. "Wonderful performances!"
"Beautiful costumes!" "Felt like I was back in China!" were some of the exclamations
of merriment. Everyone had a fantastic time!
