Details:

1. Schoolwide Parent – Admin – PTO Meeting This Sunday
   1:10pm in Chinese and 4:10pm in English in room 146.
   
   This is a great opportunity for parents to talk with the administrators and PTO of our school. We will discuss about the upcoming school year, the classes, our financial health, PTO activities, and answer any questions. Past meetings have lasted about an hour but you don’t have to stay for the entire time.
   
   
2. Zumba Class (for Adults or Teens) at 2pm
   Our Zumba class demo last week received great feedback from parents! We would like to run the class for the rest of the Fall Term.
   
   Time: 2pm
   Duration: this Sunday October 4 through November 15 (7 classes)
   Cost: $42 for 7 classes (averages to $6/class). One free make-up class allowed. Pay directly to the teacher.
   Teacher: experienced YMCA Zumba teacher, who has also taught pilates, yoga, step, and more.
   Minimum number of students needed: 4
   
   This class is for adults or teens and welcomes everyone of any stamina/ability. Zumba is flexible in that a novice and a veteran can do the same movement but at different strenuous levels. If you are interested, please sign up at the Admin Desk.
   
   
3. Wushu (Martial Arts) Class - Bring Yoga Mats
   Our Wushu teacher is asking students to bring in yoga mats in order to do more stretching in this Sunday’s class.
   
   
4. First School Store Opens This Sunday at Recess Time
   Do you have school dollars saved from last school year or from summer camp? Find them and come to shop in our school store this Sunday! New stationery and other items are stocked for the new school year besides snacks. Time to spend your school dollar savings!
   
   Store managers on duty (high grade CHL class students): Kenny Yang, Nikki Cao, Vincent Yao, Lillian Zeng.
   
   If your household has any unwanted new or gently used items, please consider donating them to the school store, even items with commercial logos are totally fine. Your closet junk may turn out to be someone else’s treasure! Circulate these items which still have value and help to keep the environment green too!
   
   
5. Parent on Duty Sign-Up Needed
   Not only did familiar faces sign up last Sunday, a couple of new families also committed to help! Many thanks to these supportive parents! We strongly hope that every family will take ownership of its role in our community and treat this sign up as a responsibility to fulfill by signing up three times during the school year. Main responsibilities include ringing the bell, supervising the school store, maintaining hallway safety, helping with school activities, all to benefit our children!
   
   
6. “Asian Seniors CAREs Center of MLCCC” Opens
   Our Senior Center will be in room 146 from 1pm-3pm and 4pm-5pm (except for this Sunday as we’re holding our school meeting there). A blood pressure meter, a Mahjong set, and several decks of cards are available. Anyone who wishes to use Mahjong set and cards please come to the Admin Desk to sign them out. More supplies/equipment will be added in future weeks. More services will also be added such as periodic blood pressure screenings. This Senior Center is free and open to all, you do not need to be a senior to use the services . If you have any suggestions/ideas, please let us know. We hope you enjoy the services!

1. EQ Parenting Seminar on 10/11 (Sunday) 9:30-11:30am at Rosemont College Auditorium
   If you feel that it’s harder and harder to communicate with your kid(s); if you feel your kid(s) need to be more motivated and more responsible; If you haven’t heard about what EQ parenting is, this seminar may be for you!
   
   An EQ Parenting Seminar will answer these questions from Dr. Bing Liao. Seminar is hosted by Philadelphia EQ Parenting Club, co-hosted by Great Wall Chinese School and Ju Hua Suan group.
   
   Dr. Bing Liao, a two college-aged kids mom, is an EQ parenting advocate and has been working in the field for 10+ years. She has the Bachelor degree from Beijing University, PhD degree from University of Houston and MBA from Rutgers University. She worked at Merrill Lynch and The Lawrenceville School before she founded YingHua Language School, YingHua International School, "YingHua in Beijing" Summer Language & Leadership Institute, Princeton International Academy Charter School.
