MLCCC Newsletter (2015-10-15)

        Dear Parents,

After much consideration, we have two decisions to share with you:

        1. 以其它中文学校出现的事故为借鉴,防范于未然。In light of a recent accident that occurred at another
Chinese school, and in consideration of the welfare of our school’s community and
our children, we have made the difficult decision to no longer allow individuals
who are not affiliated with MLCCC to use our gym starting on November 1.
Individuals who are affiliated with MLCCC are those individuals who are currently
attending, or have children attending, any MLCCC Weekend School classes or are supporting
our school in a meaningful way. MLCCC parents are welcome to continue to use our
        gym free of charge.

        2. In response to teachers’ and Great Valley High School’s feedback, starting this
week, “no food or drink except for water” will be allowed to be consumed
inside any classroom or the gym. Some notable exceptions are End of Term parties,
upcoming Halloween trick-or-treat, or PTO Tea Party. Students need to finish their
food/drink before entering the classroom. We hope you agree that this will make
the classrooms a better place to teach and learn.

We are borrowing Great Valley High School’s space and are thankful to them for allowing
us to run our school at this wonderful facility. We want to ensure that their space
is kept as clean as it was before our use and that everyone has a safe and clean
environment to enjoy. Please help to clean up after food sales, class parties, etc.

Great Valley High School has rented their space to MLCCC, therefore no other individuals
who are not affiliated with our school should be on school grounds when our school
is in session (especially in the gym where accidents can happen!).

Thank you to everyone for your understanding in both of these matters!

        - Halloween Costume Sale and
            Exchange This Sunday

If you have a spare Halloween costume you would like
to find a good new home for, you can bring it in this Sunday to either sell or exchange
with others. Our PTO will sell them for you and charge $0.50 if the item is sold
for $5+, $0.25 if sold for below $5.

Our PTO also has numerous costumes donated by members of our community and they
will all be marked down to the lowest price in history for a quick sale. No costume
will be more than $2. If your household has little ones and no costumes yet, come
                to take a look!

Some gently used little girls’ shoes were donated to our school from parent Chunxia
Chen and Chungang Wang. They will be on sale with name-your-price. Any offer will
be accepted. Come and grab them while they last!

        - Karaoke Machine Awaits Your
            Use in Room 146 1pm-3pm & 4pm-5pm

Since our Senior CAREs Center’s opening, supplies like
mahjong and cards have been frequently used. Another good equipment that is waiting
to be used is the karaoke machine! You don't have to be a good singer. It’s fun
and hey you might develop several fans! So come and grab the microphone and hum
out your favorite melodies! Room 146 is available for karaoke from 1pm-3pm and 4pm-5pm.

amongst our school’s parents. If you want to join the group, please contact the
group owner/creator Connie Ning (Parent of Nathan Hartman, a CSL Level 1 student,
                connie_ning@yahoo.com)
or PTO President Ms. Sherry Wang for details.

This concert celebrates the 70th Anniversary of the
United Nations and peace through music.

The concert has some exciting aspects to it, including conductor Johan de Meij,
the composer of the Lord of the Rings symphony, who will lead our orchestra, and
                Chinese violinist Yeou-Cheng Ma:

Dr. Yeou-Cheng Ma collaborated with the Lark Quartet, cellist Hai Ye Ni and Yo-Yo
Ma, violinist Stephanie Chase, and has performed in chamber music concerts with
faculty and friends of the Children's Orchestra at the Alice Tully and Merkin Hall,
the United Nations, the 92nd Street Y, the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in Manhattan,
Wave Hill, and toured Europe, Asia and the United State with the Dadap Ma Duo.

Born in Paris to Chinese parents, Yeou-Cheng Ma gave her first public performance
at age seven, and played piano with her brother Yo-Yo Ma for over a decade...
