You helped PTO during the past school year. Now it’s our turn to say Thank You!
People who have donated their time and/or items to PTO during this past school year have received a separate email from PTO president Sherry Wang about the recognition
raffle tickets you are entitled to for prize drawings. If you did donate or volunteer, but haven’t received such an email, please contact us to correct the oversight.
The raffle drawing has two pools: one pool is for people who have donated items to our School Store, Halloween Party, New Year Gala, Easter etc., the other pool
is for people who have volunteered at various school and PTO events, such as Parent-on-Duty, Halloween party, New Year Gala, competitions/contests, Easter Egg Hunt,
etc.
The raffle prizes will include Giant Gift Cards, free admission tickets to Natural Science Museum, backpack, handbag etc.
PTO will also provide some snacks and drinks for the party. On top of that, we are adding one new agenda to the party! We will celebrate the graduation of 2016
high school seniors who were MLCCC Weekend School or Summer Camp students, or dedicated volunteers. They are heading to Yale University, University of Pennsylvania,
Emory University, etc. They will share about their college application experience, high school lives, etc. It is an excellent opportunity for us parents to hear
first hand experiences from these excellent high school graduates!
- FREE SAT & ACT Diagnostic Tests and Evaluations, on 5/8, All are Welcome
Many students and parents are unclear about the distinction between the SAT and the ACT college entrance exam. Both are viewed equally
by colleges. But the style of their questions are quite different, such that a student may get a much higher score on one test than another.
The easiest way to decide is to take both tests and see which one you did better on. So we will offer a free SAT diagnostic test and a free ACT diagnostic test
to all interested students on 5/8 from 1:30pm to 5pm, right at our Weekend School. Students will take both tests. Then our partner Ivy Experience and MLCCC will
grade the tests, compare them, and write up individual evaluations. Please pre-register at the link below so that we know how many copies to make:
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/.../viewform?c=0&w=1
Test Time: 1:30pm - 5pm, Sunday 5/8, at MLCCC Weekend School at GVHS
Please pass this information to anyone who may be interested. One does not have to be part of MLCCC nor enrolled in our Summer SAT/ACT program to take advantage
of this opportunity. All who are interested are welcome.
Also that same day, feel free to listen to high school seniors share their college application experience at 1pm. See 5) below.
- MLCCC’s Annual Students Art Exhibit This Sunday - Volunteers Needed
Our hallway will light up with our children's artworks this Sunday! We will start to put up the artworks at 1pm. Please help if you
can. All parents and students are welcome to vote for your favorite artist. Top artists will be awarded at the Year End Assembly.
- People’s Light workshop at MLCCC with English Writing Class on 5/8 3pm
We are delighted to welcome People’s Light theater to come onsite to our Weekend School and run a workshop with our English Writing
Class students and other students who may be interested! The workshop will focus on the Newbery Award winning novel “A Single Shard”, about an orphan boy in 12th
Century Korea who undertakes a difficult journey to realize his dream of being a Master potter. Each student will also receive a free copy of the novel. Thank
you, People’s Light! And thank you to our English Writing Teacher Ms. Frank for coordinating!
“A Single Shard” has been transformed to a play and will be playing at People’ Light. At the theatre, there are days when kids can both watch the play and work
with clay with a master potter! There are also opportunities to meet the author at the theatre. Brochure with more information are at the Admin Desk.
Time of workshop: 3pm, Sunday 5/8, at MLCCC Weekend School at GVHS, for English Writing Class students and others who are interested. If you would like
for your
child to come to the workshop, please let us know. There are only 15 spots available so we have to keep track of how many students who want to come.
- Textbooks on Sale on 5/15
If you would like to buy next school year’s textbooks before the summer, so your child can have a head start during the summer, please
place your order at the following link.

Register early to save 10% off total tuition for the next school year. Deadline for this discount window is 5/15/2016 (a Sunday).
This
discount registration is open to everyone, including students who are currently not in our school. So please let your friends know so they can benefit from this
huge money saving opportunity.
While the Early Bird has always been a huge money saver for parents, its process has always been confusing to parents and time consuming for Admin. Especially

full before the early bird deadline of 5/15, rather than paying a non-refundable $50 deposit per student. Please go to our online registration webpage
http://www.mlccc.org/Forms/V2/Programs/School/Registration.aspx
to select your classes, then print the registration summary and hand in with your payment to us by 5/15/2016.
