- 识字比赛 Character Recognition Contest Continues This Sunday for CHL Grade 4+ and CSL
For students who wish to participate in this contest, please register online at
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/.../viewform?usp=send_form.
Top performers will be awarded at the End of School Year assembly in May. Each participant will receive $2 school dollars.
This year, we reduced the number of words that students need to review and compete on. We hope that this change will make the competition less overwhelming to
most students.
For CHL classes Grade 3 to 8, students are given 300 words (150 from their current grade and 150 from their previous grade) to study. They will be tested 150 words,
100 from their current grade level, 50 from their previous grade level.
For CHL classes Grade 9 to 10, students are given 300 words (all of them from their current grade) to study. They will be tested 150 words.
Students will compete individually. They must read out the words instantly and accurately. Students who are able to correctly read 95% and above will be the winners.
For CSL classes, each participant will be randomly given 100 words. (Level I students will be tested 73 words.) Participants must read out the words in Chinese
and translate into English instantly and accurately. Students who are able to correctly read and translate 85% and above will be the winners. Please let us know
if you want the review list for CSL.
Vocabulary lists for both CHL Chinese classes and CSL Chinese classes are on Quizlet. Vocabulary list for CHL is also on our web at
http://www.mlccc.org/Documents/Programs/School/Contest/Recognition/ContestWordsCHL.pdf
Once you have registered to participate in the contest, we will invite you to join the Quizlet class to access the vocabulary list. You can use Quizlet to review
the words or print them out to review.
