- Early Bird Registration For Next School Year - Now Through 5/15/2016
Register early to save 10% off total tuition for the next school year. Deadline for this discount window is 5/15/2016 (a Sunday).
This
discount registration is open to everyone, including students who are currently not in our school. So please let your friends know so they can benefit from this
huge money saving opportunity.
While the Early Bird has always been a huge money saver for parents, its process has always been confusing to parents and time consuming for Admin. Especially
with the multitude
of new classes we are offering next year, we desperately need to simplify the administrative procedure, therefore we are asking you to select classes and pay in
full before the early bird deadline of 5/15, rather than paying a non-refundable $50 deposit per student. Please go to our online registration webpage
http://www.mlccc.org/Forms/V2/Programs/School/Registration.aspx
to select your classes, then print the registration summary and hand in with your payment to us by 5/15/2016.
For those who like paper registrations, the registration form is at

track will be offered from Kindergarten all the way to 9th grade if we have enough registration. We are still offering MaLiPing (马立平)track for those who want more
rigorious curriculum. All the classes are in the online registration system already, please be sure to pick the right track when you choose.
We also decided to switch our Kindergarten textbook to MeiZhouHuaYu(美洲华语).

Sun Wei Laoshi’s planned curriculum and his background are at the link below. Curriculum can be adjusted according to parents’ comments/opinions:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/.../mobilebasic?pli=1
Fencing (击剑):
2pm, 3pm, 4pm, minimum age 8
Fencing is known as human speed chess because each move has a counter move and trains split second decision-making and accurate hand-eye coordination.
Coach Graham Draper is a Fencing Instructor with 19 years of experience with his studies starting at the Fencing Academy of Philadelphia. He captained Archmere
Academy's Fencing Club before teaching at Lionville YMCA during his college years. Going on his 5th year of teaching, he is happy to be bringing fencing to the
Main Line Chinese Culture Center.
The class emphasizes having fun while practicing discipline, acquiring strength and improving gross motor skills. This program uses a variety of games that promote
strength, coordination, and tactical understanding. After the beginning several classes, the curriculum will cover foot technique, proper use and handling of the
foil (foil is one type of sword), and includes mock bouts.
Coach will only recommend buying equipment if student is still interested after numerous classes. Starter set is about $90 and include sword, vest, mask, bag,
etc. and lasts for many years but for needing taller vests as child grows.
Ballroom Dancing (交际舞):
2pm, 3pm, for adults
Lin Jianmin 林坚闽 Laoshi’s Background/Experiences:
Years of competitive dancing in ballroom, including international standard (Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Foxtrot and Quickstep) and international Latin style dances
(Samba, Cha-cha, Rumba, Paso Doble and Jive). Competed in all ten dances and won all 1st places in a number of Am/Pro competitions in New York Opens. Performed
in American style competitive dances, in both Smooth and Rhythm (Swing, Bolero and Mambo) divisions.
Teaching experience: instructor for Arthur Murray dance studio; coached collegiate ballroom; instructor for community center dance classes.
Chinese Calligraphy (中国书法) Teacher Change:
2pm, 3pm, for adults or children aged 7 and up
New teacher will be Mr. Robert Hsu. Mr. Hsu came to our Chinese NewYear Gala and did Calligraphy Demo. Many parents and visitors were amazed by his Calligraphy
skills. Below are words from Hsu Laoshi:
I have learned to write Chinese calligraphy for more than 40 years, I have also taught Chinese calligraphy for over 25 years; it is my hobby and my passion. Professionally,
I have a Ph.D. degree in Neuroscience and I do research at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). Aside from being a researcher, I am a calligrapher;
I write calligraphy frequently, teach classes, and host calligraphy workshops. I am able to teach Chinese calligraphy in both English and Chinese. I have designed
classes that are suitable for both children and adults.
This class will focus mainly on regular script (楷書). In addition, this course will present the other styles of Chinese calligraphy, including running (行書), grass
(i.e., cursive, 草書), seal (篆書), and clerical scripts (隸書). Moreover, seal carving, spring festival couplets (春聯), and other calligraphy related crafts too will
be introduced in the classes, to spark interest in learning Chinese calligraphy.
I am looking forward, eagerly, to seeing everyone at MLCCC Chinese Weekend School. Together, let us enjoy the beauty of Chinese calligraphy.
