Details:

1. Multiple Events at GVHS This Sunday, Park in Lot at Back of GVHS
   The parking lot will likely be crowded this Sunday so we may need to park in the back of GVHS. We will prop open doors on the back and side of GVHS for entry into the building
   
   
2. CHL and CSL: First 15 Minutes of Class This Sunday is Mini Conference with Teacher
   CHL and CSL teachers will present their plan and methodology for the school year and answer any questions.
   
   
3. 1pm Tennis Class Possible Starting This Sunday
   We are possibly opening a 1pm Tennis Class, starting this Sunday, to hopefully alleviate the crowded Tennis classes at the other times slots, and also to offer an additional choice in time for Tennis. Please complete the short survey asap at the link below to help us gauge if there is interest from families to join a 1pm Tennis class, starting this Sunday, whether you are switching from another Tennis time slot or joining new. 4. Mathcounts 4pm Class Opened
   
   
5. No Basketball 3pm-5pm
   3pm and 4pm Tennis classes have many students and need the entire back gym. Hence basketball will only be during 1pm-3pm. Thank you for your understanding.
   
   
6. Free Taichi Class @3pm in Admin Hallway Starts This Week
   Our popular Taichi class teacher Mrs. Shao is now back in the U.S. Hence we can now resume our free Taichi class @3pm in the Admin Hallway.
   Mrs. Shao is an experienced Taichi professional and a certified Taichi instructor, who has taught in both China and the U.S. with excellent feedback. Since basketball is no longer available at 3pm, this class came at the best time for everyone to get some exercise. All ages and gender are welcome. No prior skills are required.
   But do wear comfortable shoes.
   
   
7. Open Rooms for Parents
   The following rooms have no classes during the indicated time slots and therefore are available to parents to use during the indicated time slots:
   1pm - 1:50pm: Rooms 147, 146, 164
   2pm - 2:50pm: all rooms have classes
   3pm - 4:50pm (2 hrs): Rooms 168, 159, 158
   4pm - 4:50pm: Rooms 147, 166
   
   
8. Chinese Schools Ping Pong Tournament at Delaware ChunHui (春晖) Chinese School
   Please let the Admin know by this Friday if you are interested to play or to be in the judge team or both.
   The following announcement is from the Greater Philadelphia Chinese School Union 大费城地区中文学校联合会理事会 to each Chinese school:
   
   按照今年中文学校联合会理事会的决定，我们将在11月12日下午1点至6点举办中文学校联合会的首届校际间乒乓球比赛。地点是Delaware的春晖中文学校。时间已经很紧迫了，希望各校抓紧组队。
   
   各项比赛的前3名颁发奖品，所有参与者有纪念奖，裁判也有纪念奖。各中文学校出资$100，共同承担费用。（明朗 will pay for our parents to participate.)
   
   现在需要各校推荐两名裁判，组成这次乒乓球比赛的裁判组。这些裁判需要懂得乒乓球比赛的规则。请大家10月3日前把裁判名单报上来。具体比赛的项目（男、女单打，双打等），最后由裁判组决定。裁判尽量避免参赛，但如果没有其他人选，可以参赛
   
   因为是中文学校联合会的活动，参赛的人员必须直接是各中文学校的学生或家长。这次比赛只有家长组，没有学生组。如果有学生希望参加，将与家长一起比赛。

10. Parent-on-Duty Sign Up Needed
    Many thanks to the parents who have already signed up! Our community needs everyone’s effort to ensure its efficient operation and safe environment for our kids, so parent-on-duty should be every family’s responsibility to fulfill. Please come to the Admin Desk to sign up. Ideally each family should sign up three times for the entire school year, averaged to once per term (which is 10 weeks). Thank you for your cooperation!
    
    
11. Last Call for Summer Homework Award
    This is the last week to claim MLP summer homework award. CHL students (grades 2-9) who have done the Ma Liping summer HW book, will be rewarded with school dollars. Those who completed 90% or more of the HW book will be rewarded $10 school dollars and those who completed 40%-80% will be rewarded $5 school dollars.

   Help us study the effects of parenting on childhood obesity! Johns Hopkins School of Medicine is conducting a research study in children 5-12 years old and their adult parents to investigate the behavioral influences that affect child weight. This study involves the one-time, 20-30 minute completion of questionnaires regarding basic demographic information, parenting behaviors, and behaviors and attitudes towards food weight of you and your child.
   Upon the completion of the study, you will receive $5 in compensation as well as be entered for a chance to win a $100 gift card!
