- 24 Game Registration This Week, Game Next Week, Every Participant Receives School Dollars, Volunteer Judges
Needed Too
Our 24 Game is back again by popular demand! Register this week, compete next week. If your children know how to add, subtract, multiply,
and divide 4 numbers (each number is from 1 to 10) to get 24, then this game is for them! It sharpens their math skills, and speeds up their mental calculations.
Register your children to participate:
- at the Admin Desk, or
- by responding to this newsletter, or
- through MLCCC WeChat group.
We need your children’s names and their regular school grades to pair the players.
Rules:
If there is a grade gap between the two players, the lower grader starts the game with the number of points equal to the grade gap.
Whoever reaches 8 points first wins the game, unless the grade gap is >=3, then whoever reaches 10 points first wins the game.
If you motion to answer but do not give the correct answer within the allotted time, your opponent receives the point.
Participants who pre-register receive $2 school dollars regardless of winning or losing. Participants who join on the spot receive $1 school dollar.
We will award the Grand Champion $50 school dollars, $30 school dollars for Runner-Up and each grade’s top player $10 school dollars.
We also need quite a number of volunteer judges. Games will be on January 17 and January 24 during recess time. Please sign up to help out for a smooth competition!
- MLCCC Chinese Speech Contest 1/17/2016 – Accepting Registrations
All students who are currently in our Chinese classes (CHL or CSL) and public Speaking classes are welcome to participate. The students
will be divided into five groups: Heritage 1st - 3rd grade, Heritage 4th - 6th grade, Heritage 7th grade and above, CSL(Chinese as Second Language) 1-3 levels,
and CSL 4-7 levels.
Each participant needs to recite a piece from memory. It can be a story, a poem, or a tongue twister. Heritage 7th graders and above need to recite their own written
piece. The speech should be within 3 minutes. The judges will be looking at pronunciation, tone, content, fluency, and presentation.

Our 2016 Chinese New Year Gala is on Sunday afternoon 2/7/2016, right at GVHS. This is a free admissions event for all people of the
Greater Philadelphia area who would like to experience and celebrate this wonderful Chinese holiday with us. The Gala includes two parts: New Year’s Show (1pm-3pm)

We are currently seeking performances for this year’s show. If you or anyone you know are interested in performing on the stage, please let us know. We are looking
for something that represents authentic Chinese culture. Culture fair activities are also under preparation. If you have any ideas that could improve our culture
