Dear Parents,

The Year of the Rooster is almost here!!  Our Chinese New Year Gala is in about one week on Jan 29 right at GVHS!  Details of that day will be shared next week.  That day is a lot of fun and a big party of a celebration!  Please donate some food/drink (store bought or homemade) to add to the festivities, or donate some time to help keep the Gala running smoothly!  Sign-up sheets are at the Admin Desk.  Thank you so much in advance!!

1. 24 Game Finals Continue This Week at 1:50pm in Room 166
   Congratulations to the following players who advanced to the next round and will continue to compete this Sunday for the champion title:
   Jadon Chen, Ethan Huang, Tean Lai, Eric Sun, Jerry Wang, Joseph Zeng, and Hannah Zhang!
   Those players who pre-registered and didn’t advance, please come to School Store’s Ms. Sherry Wang to get your $2 school dollars if you have not received yours yet.
   Many thanks to our volunteer judges from both parents and higher grade students: Skyler Le, Shuguang Liang, Yan Liu, Sophia Pan & Jian Zhou, Chwanchin Wang, Fenghua Wang, Hua Yan, Kenny Yang, Haiying Zhang!
   We still need 2-3 volunteer judges at 1:50pm and 2:50pm this week, please come to room 166 to help out if you can!
   
   
2. MLCCC Chinese New Year Gala - Call for Food Donation and Volunteers
   Our 2017 Chinese New Year Gala is on Sunday afternoon January 29, right at GVHS.  The Gala includes two parts: New Year’s Show (1pm-3pm) in auditorium and Culture Fair (3pm-5pm) in cafeteria.
   Our Gala is by far the biggest event of MLCCC!  A big event needs lots of hands to make it a success, and lots of food to make it complete.
   We need adults and older children (high school or middle school students) to help with the Show (1pm-3pm in auditorium) and the Culture Fair (3pm-5pm in cafeteria), whether it is supervising a table, opening the stage curtains, selling merchandise, etc. Additionally, our Culture Fair is so popular that many young kids start trying to play the stations at around 2:15pm. So if there is anyone who can supervise stations starting at 2:15pm, that would be extremely helpful.  The tasks are very simple.  Even 1 hour of assistance from 2:15-3:15 is extremely helpful.
   No celebration is complete without food and drink. Please donate food/drink to our PTO. The Gala is also one of our PTO’s biggest fundraisers. Food can be bought from stores or homemade, and can be sweet or salty, hot or cold!

   To those people interested in joining, the Gala is right around the corner!  Come and practice with other members so you are completely ready for our Gala!.  The songs will be in Chinese.  Please stop by Room 146 at 1pm. Thank you to our Chorus teacher Ms. Wen Li.

   留不住匆匆时光，割不断浓浓乡情。继成功举办首次费城地区中国新春音乐会后，亚都华人协会2017年又一次携手大费城华人文化中心 (GPCCC) 将于2月4日在Upper Dublin High School Performing Arts Center 组织一场大型的“欢乐春节”音乐舞蹈晚会，和大费城地区广大华人及社区共庆中国农历新年。
   
   这次演出是中国文化部“欢乐春节”活动项目，由大费城华人文化中心 (GPCCC)，亚都华人协会以及 Upper Dublin School District 联合承办。这是中国文化部第一次在费城地区举办访美演出，体现了祖国对大费城地区华人文化生活的支持，是一次非常难得的机会，请点击以下网址，从速购票，切勿错过!

   这次演出单位是经过文化部精心挑选的中国人民大学附中艺术团(RDFZ)。该艺术团由交响乐团、合唱团、舞蹈团、男子舞蹈团、武术队、健美操队以及行进乐团、电子轻音乐团等八个艺术团体组成，现有成员500多人。自2004年开始，RDFZ曾多次受中国文化部、国家汉办等委派，参加“中法文化”、“中俄文化年”、“欢乐春节”品牌及“孔子学院”交流演出活动。近年来曾先后多次赴美国、法国、奥地利、俄罗斯、英国、希腊、澳大利亚、西班牙、德国、捷克等多个国家进行访问演出，均受到热烈欢迎，得到高度评价，为促进国际交流与理解做出了贡献。参加2017年赴美交流演出的包括人大附中交响乐团、男子舞蹈团、武术队、健美操队、电子轻音乐团以及人大附中翠微学校舞蹈团的部分成员共85人。相信他们将给我们带来一场美妙的艺术享受。这也是人大附中艺术团近年来连续第十一次赴美交流演出。
