PTO Sponsored first ever “MLCCC Awareness Day” Game 明朗宣传日趣味知识竞赛 is on this Sunday at 2:00-2:50PM in Room 159. Teams are set! The door closes at 2:05PM. Beside reserved seats for teams and VIPs, remaining seats are first come first serve.
In order to make watching of the event available to everyone, the MLCCC Video Club will, for the first time, attempt to broadcast the event LIVE on TV in the Admin Hallway!! Everyone gather around and join in the fun!!

May 13: Final Exam
May 20: Assembly and Sports Day. The school year ends.
June 22: Early Bird registration ends. We encourage everyone to register or ask questions soon so you don’t forget.

Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week. Our PTO and Admin have prepared a small token of appreciation for all of our teachers, including teachers of clubs, Taichi, and English for Grandparents. Thank you to all of our teachers! Happy Teacher’s Day!

Congratulations to the following students and their families, for years of persistent diligence and effort in studying Chinese language at MLCCC Weekend School!!

- Annual Students’ Artwork Exhibit and Voting
Both of our Art Teachers, Ms. Corina Wang, and Mr. Dahong Zhang, have supplied the photos of their student’s artwork in preparation for this year’s Annual Art Exhibit & Contest. In order to simplify the process (eliminating taping, numbering and manual voting recording, etc.), we will adopt a new contest format this year: All student’s artwork will be arranged in the form of photo albums, we will ask only parents and teachers to vote online for the best of the artwork in each class or by age group. Top performers will be recognized and awarded at the School Assembly.
We are currently classifying the artwork and will announce and share the Exhibit Albums schoolwide as soon as it is completed. Please check your mailbox for an update soon.

NEW TEXTBOOK: In response to parents’ feedback in our survey, CHL MLP Track 5th Grade will use 马立平五年级教科书西游记 instead of 暨大中文教科书. CHL MZHY Track 5th Grade will still use MZHY textbook.

NEW CLASS: 中国名著和历史故事 Chinese History & Literature
For CHL grades 5+, the class is taught in English with Chinese, supplements CHL students’ knowledge on Chinese literature and history. Flyer attached. Sample class this Sunday 2PM-3PM in Room 162

Low Tuition: $240 / school year ($194 if after multi-class and Early Bird discount)
NEW CLASS: Chinese Traditions & History - with customized teaching plan.
For CSL adults and students ages 10+, class taught in English, supplements CSL families’ knowledge on many aspects of China. Teaching plan can be customized based on student’s interest. Traditions taught will coincide with actual Chinese holidays during the school year.
We especially encourage all parents of the CSL classes to give it a try, since this class will prepare you to create a situational learning environment in school and at home with your children while learning Mandarin. Flyer attached.

Tuition: $300/school year plus $5/month software subscription fee
NEW SPLIT: Chinese Calligraphy for Adults 2PM and Chinese Calligraphy for Children Ages 7+ 3PM
DANCE:
In order to make each class more even in skill levels, after discussing with the teacher, we are dividing the children/youths dance classes into 3 age ranges and using September 1 as the demarcation date. If age is 5 or 6 (less than 7) on September 1, then Dance is at 2pm. If age is 7 or 8 on September 1, then Dance is at 3pm. If age is 8 or higher on September 1, then Dance is at 4pm. Age 8 can be in 3pm or 4pm classes. Age is not the only factor so this is a general guideline. Teacher can decide based on ability, etc, Please feel free to talk to our dance teacher if you have questions.
Please Note: All Dance Classes will have Sub teacher this Sunday, Ms. Lin Jianmin, who is also a student at our Adult Dance Class. Thank you.
TENNIS 1PM: regular tennis, not intermediate.
- NEW CLUB: Orchestra/Band 少儿乐队
Taught in English. Simple auditions. Seeking team players who can practice during their spare time and attend rehearsals. Orchestra/band will perform at MLCCC events and possibly community events that qualify as community service required by some schools.
Eligibility: String instrument players who had 1 year of private instruction or 3 years of instruction in school. Wind instrument players who had 1 year of private instruction or 2 years of instruction in school.

Time: 3PM
Cost: $100 /school year (just something for teacher and to offset rent)
成立明朗学校乐队通知:
为了展示明朗中文学校学生的音乐才华，我们将成立明朗中文学校乐队，所有成员要经过面试。乐队会定期在学校重大活动中进行表演，并有可能到社区进行义务表 演，成为学生的社会服务的一部分。报名条件：具有团队精神，能利用业余时间认真练习并参加每次乐队排练弦乐器学生具备私人学琴一年或跟随学校学琴三年以上 水平。管乐器具备私人学一年或跟随学校学乐器两年以上水平。 各类乐器均可, 简单面试。

Given that our July 9 - July 20 Math Enrichment Camp for rising 5th and 6th graders is full, we are gauging interest in another session of our Math Enrichment Camp and/or English Writing Camp for rising 5th and 6th graders in our Camp's session 3, which is July 23 - Aug 3. Math teacher will be Mr. Tom Le. Writing teacher for this session will be Ms. Debbie Frank. Tuition is same as in Session 2. If you want to enroll, please fill out survey below.
