3/17/2017 - Chinese Character Contest, PTO Spring Yard Sale, Exercise Club, Photography Club, more
Dear Parents,
Hope everyone stayed safe and warm in the snowy weather.
After last week’s plea regarding the issue of safety and posting no running signs along the hallways, we have already heard positive feedback from parents that the order in the hallway during breaks has gotten better! So we are asking parents again to please keep up the great effort! Let us work together for the safety of our children! Thank you for your continued attention and cooperation!

- 识字比赛 Character Recognition Contest This Sunday for CHL G4+ and CSL - Procedure and Need Volunteers
Many thanks to the volunteer parents who made the event run flawlessly last Sunday! This Sunday will be the contest for CHL 4th grade and above, and all CSL levels. If anyone can help by being a judge, please come to the Admin Desk at 1:30pm. The task is simple. Thank you in advance!
Students who registered to compete will be called from classes to the contest area. Students do not compete against each other. They simply try to recognize as many words as possible when the judge shows them a stack of vocabulary cards. Contest usually does not take long for each student.
For students who wish to participate in this contest, please register online at
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1kNGrcF7VlmSyxWJxvinkS0w01zj8XDILflTx7qDvVrM
It is a good opportunity and makes for a good reason for the students to review the textbook vocabulary s/he has already learned. A reward will be presented to top performers at the End of School Year assembly in May. Each participant will receive $2 school dollars.
The contest rules are as follow:
The review word lists are on our website at the following links.

Teacher: Our Weekend School SAT Prep teacher Mr. Tom Le. Below is a summary of the summer SAT program from Mr. Le.
Results Oriented: During the school year, our SAT Prep students have taken two diagnostic tests [1600 is the highest score]. After about 17 hours of class time, a few students increased their score by over 100 points. The class average score after the 2nd test was over 1300 points, well above the national average, and further highlighting how impressive the improvement in score truly is as it gets much harder to improve as the scores get higher (it approaches asymptotically to 1600).
